Kulaserockatnam!                                                                                      -RAMESH S KRISHNA Blog NO: 32 2/12/2022 Kulasekarapattinam: Kulasekarapattinam, a small coastal Village in Tamil Nadu, will soon become a space hub. It is located at about 8.24.00 N 78o'3"0 E in the Thoothukudi district of Tamil Nadu. It also served as a major port city in Pandyan  times. The reason why it is on a space blog channel? The ISRO first announced their space project of building a spaceport here because it has more direct access to polar orbit.  Launching from here would be much safer than launching from the Shri Harikota launch pad, the rocket will fly over the island of Lanka.  This pad is convenient fo...

Solar eclipse Blog number 31 Ramesh S Krishna 23/10/2022                                             Wishing you all a very happy Deepawali! As you know, Deepawali has a connection with Astronomy. The new moon of the Kartikai or Ipasi is celebrated as Deepawali. So, 25th October 2022, a new moon day is also a day with Solar eclipse.  What is a Solar eclipse? When the moon, directly lines between Earth & Sun , it is known as a Solar  eclipse. This is much like the game of ' Monkey in the middle '. Instead of a ball, light kinda does its role here. The view of Solar eclipse changes from location to location. For some, it will cover the whole sun while for some it covers partially.  There are also types of these eclipses. Those ...

JWST's latest photo Blog no: 30 Ramesh S Krishna USA's president, Joe biden revealed the 1st coloured photo from JWST, Today This photo covers less than a  grain in the Universe On 12th July, NASA will release the other images like this This is just 12 1/2 hours of exposure time whereas an image like this took 11 days for Hubble You can see the curve in this image, it is because of the light passing through objects & getting curved In images like this , if more galaxies come into the image, it will add even  more galaxies. Let me explain. According to the European astronomers Albert Einstein, GRAVITY CURVES LIGHT . Just like that, it happens here too! When a galaxy appears, it also curves & passes the object behind it! Also, all the images are not in real-time. Yes. The speed of light is about 300000 KMPH. So, it does take time to ...

Sagittarius A*'s Image

Sagittarius A*'s Image By Ramesh S Krishna Blog no:27 Date: 13th May, 2022 What is a black hole? A black hole is a dense area in space where the density of items inside it is infinite. Its gravity is super strong that not even electromagnetic particles like Light cannot escape. The point of no return is called the Event horizon . The black hole doesn't emit light in the visible spectrum. So, never ever have an idea to see the black hole with your eyes. The only way it can be photographed is by Radio or other spectrums. Sagittarius A* is a black hole in the center of our galaxy. It is believed to be a supermassive black hole. It has 44Million Solar masses.  About the image: This image was taken on the 12th of May, 2022. It was collaborated by Nasa's Chandra X-ray telescope , Nuclear spectroscopic telescope, Neil Gehrels Observatory, &  the Event horizon telescope{EHT}. This image will give more data on the accretion disk .   An accretion disk  forms whenever...

Vocabulary  A= Ablation= Melting of the meteorite after entering the atmosphere Absolute magnitude= The brightness of that body from 33 light-years from Earth Accretion Disk= A group of gas orbiting an object. It creates heat & Radiation Accretion= A process when the gas turns into an object Altitude(Horizon)= The height above the horizon Altitude(Rocket)= The height above a specific body Andromeda=  A galaxy located 2.5 million light-years away Antimatter= Matter that is made up of negatively charged particles Apastron= A point in a binary system where both bodies are farthest from each other Aperture= Light observing ...

A Blog after a long time & what happened in that period?!?!

A BLOG AFTER A LONG TIME The first question for all!: Why no blogs for 31 days? Answer: If you've read my previous blogs, you'd know that My school had re-opened and the Annual exams were going on! This made me stop blogs for a while even though I had little spare time. Now, time for the second topic!!! What happened when I was offline on blogger?: Answer: A lot of things in the space book had changed. Yes, due to Russia[Putin]- Ukraine war . These are the changes: One-Web had changed the launching rocket from the 55-year-old rocket to American broom stick[Falcon-9] Exo-Mars launch delayed as Russia is wasting money on war & not cooperating properly with ESA[ European space agency] Most importantly, the ISS. The proper cooperation between countries is gone with Russia. Fun fact: Elon Challenged Putin for Kung fu. Other interesting things that happened: SLS rollout Fully stacked Starship's cryogenic proof test Few telescope launches  Also, the March equinox just happ...

The sky of 18th February!

Image
The winter sky on 18th February! You would have already seen the blog published earlier yesterday If not, this is the link : When I was writing classwork, I suddenly remembered that today is Friday, & tomorrow my Astronomy course ends. But, it was just 4 in the evening. It is my game time. Then, the time passed & it was 8.30! I went to the terrace & started to stargaze. The main event: First, I just took the phone & went to the terrace. But, suddenly, Great Grandfather came to Terrace. But, I didn't take my telescope to the roof. I came running down & assembled it. I showed the moon with a 45x eyepiece as well as 90x. They both enjoyed watching it. They went down as it was 9.15 PM. Then, I switched off all the lights & kept the camera settings as: 16-second exposure, 10-second timer, ISO as 1600, WB as 6200K. I used Realme  phone. Target: My primary target was Orion as it was my Astronomy class's assignment. But, It was busy seeing the moon. I kept the...

Snow moon

Image
Snow Moon February's full moon is also known as the Snow Moon. Every full moon has its special name. February's one is the snow moon. Why snow moon? Simple! Since winter is going on and it is snowing in most parts of the earth.  More on this: Sunday, 13th of Feb/2022.  I came to my grandparent's place, my friend Nishanth had also come there. I was pleasantly surprised when I came to know that he was also an astronomy buff! I went down to bring my Astromaster 70AZ. Meanwhile, he too joined me.  So, we started to stargaze. First, we had a gorgeous view of the moon. We spent about a quarter of an hour looking at its beauty! Then, I gave him an idea to look at the winter constellations, like Orion, Taurus. But, they were about to reach the zenith. It is tough to navigate. Then, We had an idea to look at Sirius, the dog star. Since this is February, it is also a good time to look at these stars. We spotted Sirius. Just near to it, there was Sirius B. The dense object, White dw...
