Snow moon
Snow Moon
February's full moon is also known as the Snow Moon. Every full moon has its special name. February's one is the snow moon. Why snow moon? Simple! Since winter is going on and it is snowing in most parts of the earth.
More on this:
Sunday, 13th of Feb/2022.
I came to my grandparent's place, my friend Nishanth had also come there. I was pleasantly surprised when I came to know that he was also an astronomy buff! I went down to bring my Astromaster 70AZ. Meanwhile, he too joined me.  So, we started to stargaze. First, we had a gorgeous view of the moon. We spent about a quarter of an hour looking at its beauty! Then, I gave him an idea to look at the winter constellations, like Orion, Taurus. But, they were about to reach the zenith. It is tough to navigate. Then, We had an idea to look at Sirius, the dog star. Since this is February, it is also a good time to look at these stars. We spotted Sirius. Just near to it, there was Sirius B. The dense object, White dwarf. White dwarfs are the remainders of old M, K, G, F or even A-type stars. White dwarf is  born when the star is less than 1.4Solar mass. When a main-sequence star runs out of fuel, they become a white dwarf, a neutron star, or a black hole. As this is a low mass star, it turned into a white dwarf. It looked like a tiny dot with 90x zoom. By the time, it was 11.30 PM. So, we moved down. Though I wasn't fully satisfied , we had to end that session as the next day [Monday] was my TAMIL EXAM.
About this Image:
It was the 16th of Feb, 2022.  Suddenly, a pop came into my watch saying '' time to stargaze''. Then, I called my friend & we started. Luckily, while fixing itself, it had directly aligned with the moon! There was some problem that day. The optical tube went down automatically. But, somehow we kept it in the alignment & took some shots. By the time he took a shot, I also captured a poor image of Orion as it is my astronomy class target assignment. Since it was a full moon day, Moon's light had also polluted my image. Betelgeuse, Belt of Orion, Bellatrix & Rigel were captured. This is the alignment photo!
Why no blogs for 37 days?
Yep, there were loads of tests, competitions, School classes & extra classes which kept me away from blogs.
