Kulasekarapattinam:

Kulasekarapattinam, a small coastal Village in Tamil Nadu, will soon become a space hub. It is located at about 8.24.00 N 78o'3"0 E in the Thoothukudi district of Tamil Nadu. It also served as a major port city in Pandyan  times.

The reason why it is on a space blog channel?

  • The ISRO first announced their space project of building a spaceport here because it has more direct access to polar orbit. 
  • Launching from here would be much safer than launching from the Shri Harikota launch pad, the rocket will fly over the island of Lanka.
  •  This pad is convenient for launching SSLV & Sounding rockets. It also saves a lot of fuel.

Who is planning there?

  •  When ISRO chose this place a few years ago, it was just a village like others. 
  • With the support of the State & Central government, it will turn into a big one like STARBASE & Cape Canaveral several years from now. 
  • Companies like ISRO & My company{my dream} are showing interest here to build a launch pad.

So, Will all the rockets launch from here?

  • No, all the rockets will not launch from here. Small Satellite launch vehicle{SSLVs} will only launch from here as the bed of this ground is pretty soft & not as thick as SHAR's. So, payloads of about 500 kg will launch from here.

Snow Moon February's full moon is also known as the Snow Moon. Every full moon has its special name. February's one is the snow moon. Why snow moon? Simple! Crew-2 return

  Crew-2 return  By Ramesh S Krishna Introduction: Crew-2 is a mission to ISS on dragon funded by NASA. Dragon is a space-craft designed by SPACEX.  It took a crew of 4 - Shane kinbrough , Megan Mcathur , Akihiko hoside  & Thomas pesquet.   Mission:   This mission was launched on 23rd April at 9:42 pm  from Kennedy space center[KSC]. It docked with HARMONY forward docking port. The dragon used on this mission was 'Endeavor' with has the same name of a SPACE SHUTTLE. The mission duration is 198 & 15 secs. It can  change as weather or some other thing could change it. Space-craft properties : Rocket: Falcon 9 Space-craft name: Dragon.
