Facts about Natural satellite + 1 Bonus

 Facts about our moon

By Ramesh S Krishna

Check out the picture of today's beautiful moon at the end.

Moon is the only permanent natural Satellite from earth's formation (though there are various theories to contradict it). It is about 1-quarter of the size of the earth and It's the largest of all inner planets' satellites. It's the 5th largest satellite in the solar system just after Ganymede, Titan, Callisto,  IO.
Facts:

  • More humans visited the Moon than the people who touched the surface of Marina Trench
  • The earthquakes also happen on the moon but with a different name: Moonquakes
  • Moon's surface is actually dark
  • There's water on the moon
  • Apollo 17 was the last manned mission to the moon
  • The next set of  humans could land on the moon with  the SLS rocket in the mission ARTEMIS
  • USA went to the moon to win the SPACE RACE & successfully landed. The Soviet Union also made a rocket which is named N1. But all the 4-launches were big failures.
  • In the sky, Moon & Sun seems to be of the same size but there aren't. Yes, we would need 64.3Million moons to fit inside the sun
  • The moon is moving away from the earth. So, even Solar eclipses would become impossible in future
  • Moon makes tides on the ocean
  • The moon will appear in a different color with time
  • The full moon which appears  in August is called the Blue moon
  • The harvest moon happens near the Autumn equinox
  • Buzz Aldrin is the 1st person to excrete on the moon
  • Humans have left 96bags of human waste by Apollo astronauts

                  The image

Taking this image was eazy-peezy.
I took this image tonight. This is the 12.5-day old moon. I took this image 1.45hrs after the moonrise.

  1. Very well written. Keep writing more. You seem to be interested genuinely in the subject of space. You appear to have the ability to write what you have understood.
