Trouble in ISS
Nauka’s docking problem
By Ramesh S Krishna
Nauka is a Module launched by Russia in a proton rocket on the 21st of July 2021. It’s an MLM [Multipurpose Laboratory module]. It will dock at the docking port of the Zvezda module, where previously the PIRS module was docked. The PIRS was undocked and re-entered the atmosphere of earth on July 26th, 2021 and after spending 7252 days docked to the station. After the undocking of PIRS and before Nauka’s docking, the robotic arm went and connected with the arm of the Zarya module and checked the port on which PIRS was docked. There were concerns that the astronauts should go for an EVA and check the docking port but the port looked perfect so they didn’t go for an EVA.
When Nauka was about to dock the problem started. The docking control was suddenly shifted from automatic to manual. After it docked, Everyone accepted that it was the end of the real excitement. They thought the astronauts would open the hatch and go into the module and integrate into the space station’s control system. But it didn’t happen, something went wrong while it was integrating into the control system. The loac[Loss of altitude control] alert was announced because Nauka's engine ignited. This caused the Boeing starliner’s launch to be postponed to August 3rd. So this July there were no American launches, But there were 2 Historic sub-orbital human launches by Virgin galactic & Blue origin.

Great effort π Congratulations to my little Astronaut . Keep going. God bless you
