Hi All! Nice to meet you after a long gap. For a change, this time I thought I can list out as many astronomy terms as I could remember. Since, after listing I found the list to be too long, I will be posting it in parts. Here is the first one. Though it is a bit lengthy, Please give it a read.
Vocabulary
A=
Ablation= Melting of the meteorite after entering the atmosphere
Absolute magnitude= The brightness of that body from 33 light-years from Earth
Accretion Disk= A group of gas orbiting an object. It creates heat & Radiation
Accretion= A process when the gas turns into an object
Altitude(Horizon)= The height above the horizon
Altitude(Rocket)= The height above a specific body
Andromeda= A galaxy located 2.5 million light-years away
Antimatter= Matter that is made up of negatively charged particles
Apastron= A point in a binary system where both bodies are farthest from each other
Aperture= Light observing a region of the telescope, camera etc.
Aphelion= Highest distance in an orbit of a manmade body
Apogee= Highest distance of an orbit of a man-made object
Apparent magnitude= The brightness of the body from the Surface of Earth
Asterism= A Pattern that is a part of a constellation but, it is not a whole constellation
Asteroid= A rock floating around in space. Found at Main asteroid belt, Kuiper belt, Oort Cloud
Astro australis= The aurora that happens in the Southern hemisphere
Astro biology= Biology part of astronomy
Astro biologist= A person who deals with the biology of space
Astro borealis= The aurora that happens in the Northern hemisphere
Astrochemist= A person who deals with chemistry in space
Astrochemistry= The chemistry part of astronomy
Astrology= A prediction with Sun, Moon & other planets
Astronaut= People who know to operate the spacecraft & live in the craft for a short while
Astronomer= A person who studies space
Astronomical unit= 150 million km( 90 million miles) or the distance between Earth & Sun
Astronomy= A subject which on space which is my blog page's topic
Astrophysicist= A person who deals with physics in space
Astrophysics= The physics part of astronomy
Atmosphere= A layer around a celestial body made up of air
Aurora= A natural light show happening due to the interaction of Earth's magnetic field & Solar particles
Azimuthal= Number of degrees in the sky starting from North
Azimuthal grid= The grid that is equal on all sides

Background Radiation= Ionizing radiation in the environment
Bar= The unit to measure atmospheric pressure.
Barlow lens= A magnifier used to view objects 2x, 3x, 5x or 10x on a telescope
Betelgeuse= The star in Orion which is going to go supernova soon
Big bang= The Famous theory that describes the formation of the universe
Big bear= The constellation name
Binary= A Pair of objects orbiting each other
Black hole= A invisible hole that has infinite gravity & bends space-time a lot.
Black moon= The second new moon in the same month
Blue Moon=The blue moon is the opposite of the black moon. Two full moons in a single month.
Blue planet= Earth is known as the blue planet!
Blue shift= Happens due to the moving of the object & light from it moves to the blue end.
Bolide= A Bright meteoroid. It will make large booms. Ex. Tunguska event
Brown dwarf= The remains of a small main-sequence star. It can also be an object which tried to become a star but, it can't due to less amount of pressure & hydrogen

Celestial bodies= The objects in the universe
Celestial equator= The line that divides an object equally in half
Celestial poles= The northern & southern tips of a spherical body
Celestial sphere= Sky is known as the celestial sphere
Chromosphere= Like the first layer of the sun's atmosphere
Circumpolar star= Daily movements of stars in the sky
Cluster= A group of celestial bodies
Collimation=Aligning the telescope so that we can see
Coma= The area of a comet where it is covered with gas & dust
Comet=An Icy body coming from Oort cloud. It will increase its brightness when it comes near the sun.
Compound telescope= It is a mix of both reflector & refractor telescopes
Conjunction=An alignment of 2 or more bodies in the same part of the sky
Constellation art= Creatures in the constellations
Constellations= Imaginary art in the sky
Corona= The hot gases that can be seen while the solar eclipse. Known as the 'Ring of fire'
Cosmic= Relationship of something to space
Cosmogony= A subject that deals with the origin of the solar system
Cosmology= Studying the formation of the universe
Cosmos= The space
Crater= Holes formed due to the impact of some object.
Crescent= The light coming will be the 'C' shape of an object
Culmination= Reaching of zenith

Dark adaptation= Eyes adjusting to the dark sky after getting rid of artificial lights
Dark matter=The invisible matter that fills ~70% of our universe
Day= The time when the sun is above the horizon of your location
Declination= Distance from the celestial equator & the object
Deep space= After the solar system, many light-years away
Density= The amount of matter in a place
Disk=The line where the objects in the sky travel
Dobsonian telescopes=Expensive telescope but gives us a good result
Docking= Joining two objects in space
Dwarf planet= A small planet that doesn't classify the needs to be a planet
E=
Earth shine= A phenomenon that occurs due to the reflection of sunlight on the moon's 1st few days
Earth= Our home planet
Eccentric orbit= Major difference between its aphelion & perihelion in its orbit
Eclipse= Hiding one other
Eclipsing binary= A binary system that rotates so that at a point, an object hides the another
Electromagnetic spectrum= In this spectrum, light comes in different wavelengths. The mass of these particles is zero.
Elliptical galaxy= A galaxy that has the shape of the ellipse
Elliptical orbit= A orbit in elliptical size
Energy= A thing that gives something to make a thing work
Equinox=Happens on March 20 & September 22. Sun directly shines on the Equator.
Escape velocity= The speed required to escape the body
Event horizon= The last place where you can escape from a black hole
Extinct= That is no more
Extraterrestrial life= Life on other worlds
Eye piece= A lens in a telescope connects to an optical tube to zoom the figure

Fading= Brightness of an object decreases
Field of view= The part of the sky that is visible
Finder scope= Part in the telescope used for navigation in the sky
Fixed star= The star is very far & dim. So, it is tough to see its motion
Flares= Sudden eruption from a star
Focal length= The length of the tube in the telescope
Focal ratio= A lens diameter/aperture.
Free fall= Falling down by gravity from a great Hight
Full moon= The phase of the moon when it is fully illuminated
Fulton gap= A size used to measure the exoplanets

Galactic center= The center of a galaxy
Galactic year= The time a system takes to orbit the galactic center
Galaxy= Connection of a lot of stars, dust & planets
Galilean Moons= The 4 famous moons of Jupiter discovered by Galileo
Gamma-Ray Burst= Very powerful explosions due to the merging of neutron stars
Gas giant= A big planet made up of gas like Jupiter
Gegenschein= A faint point in the sky which is opposite to sun's location
Geocentric= Earth is in the center of the universe[theory]
Geoid= Shape of Earth
Geostationary orbit= A orbit above Earth in the height of 35000 KM
Geosynchronous orbit= The orbit where satellites relatively orbit Earth at its speed
Gibbous= A phase of the moon when it is illuminated greater than 50% but, lesser than 100%
Globular cluster= A group of stars
Gravitational lensing= Bending of light due to gravity
Gravitational wave= Ripples in space-time due to the acceleration of heavy bodies
Gravity= A force that attracts things

Half moon= 50% Illuminated moon
Heliocentric= Sun as the center of the universe
Heliopause= Border of Heliosphere & Interstellar space
Heliosphere= The gravity sphere of a star
Helium= 2nd element in the periodic table
Hertzsprung Russell diagram= A diagram consisting of stars, mass, diagram, temperature, etc.
Hubble space telescope= The famous telescope that was launched in 1990
Hubble's law= A law proposed by Edwin Hubble
Hydrogen= 1st element in periodic table
Hydrostatic equilibrium= A concept that keeps a star running because of the equal amount of pressure by fusion & the mass of its star
Hyper galaxy= A galaxy that has dwarf & satellite galaxies
Hyper nova= A very big explosion after the supernova
Hyperbolic orbit= Enough speed to escape the orbit
